The Planning Commission has six regular and three alternate members, elected to staggered terms of four years each.
The duties of the commission include formulation of the town’s Comprehensive Plan of Conservation and Development, review and approval of subdivisions, site plans, special exception applications and referrals from the Zoning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Board of Selectmen.
Staff at the Planning office, on the third floor of Town Hall, is available to answer land use questions, particularly those relating to potential and existing subdivisions, site plans or special exceptions.
All land use maps are available for viewing and copies of all land use regulations are for sale in the Planning office. Additionally, comprehensive plans for Main Street South, Southford, the Exit 16 area, Streetscape and the town’s master plan are available.
Planning Commission regular meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month except December in Room 205 of Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend.
